Open Blender to a new scene and delete the default cube. In the menu bar at the top (assuming the default layout), select File→Import→FBX (.fbx). You will see a screen with (by default at the lower-left corner) an Import FBX panel. Select the Main tab in this panel and keep the default values, which look like this.
Exporting Meshes through FBX plug-in: The advantage of FBX plug-in is that it's available in later version of Maya. It's a built in plug-in, so you don't have to type or execute any commands in the script editor window. So just select the meshes if you have set all the UVs properly (like we did above for ActorX.)

I tried to convert gltf in fbx, and also to convert the ldraw model in fbx passing from this 3ds file, but I got two bad results: importing as separate components this generate about 5.000 different parts starting from 237 bricks, all separated so in theory needing manual re-creation of the original model.

To solve this in blender, on export fbx settings, you have to click the icon besides Path Mode which says Embeded Textures and also put the mode to Copy. That way the textures are within the fbx file.

May 23, 2019 · Interesting idea, I have not used this ability of FBX but just looked up how this pipeline works in UE4. It sounds like the geometry to be saved as FBX has to already have animation data defined for it in the originating app. GH saves out animations as individual 2D images for the steps of a slider so this won’t likely work.
